ABOUT THE EXPERIMENT COMEDY

20140126-094147.jpgTHE EXPERIMENT COMEDY is a comedic collective founded and formed in October of 2013 by Mo Fathelbab, Derek Smith, and Ben Trandem. The purpose of The Experiment is to produce the best in live standup, improv and sketch shows in New York City (at THE EXPERIMENT COMEDY GALLERY, 272 Grand Street, Basement Level, Brooklyn, NY 11211), in Los Angeles; as well as creating innovative comedic content for the Internet in video, audio, and written forms via the very website you’re currently skimming through: theexcomedy.com.

THE EXPERIMENT COMEDY is a part of BIG JIM SLADE PRODUCTIONS, LLC.

BIOGRAPHIES

539084_10151785733773326_39503719_nMO FATHELBAB has been a part of the New York and Los Angeles comedy scenes since 2002, spending eight of those years at The Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, where he wrote and performed in numerous shows, including UCBW, WNBC’S ‘Over The Top’ Live!, and the long-running The Iron Sheikh and Friends co-starring Ben Schwartz (House of Lies, Parks and Recreations). In 2011, Mo went to work for Chris Hardwick’s Nerdist Industries where he helped start The Nerdist Showroom at Meltdown Comics — or NerdMelt for short — and served as its On-Site Producer and Booker. He wrote, produced, and performed in multiple shows at NerdMelt including Stonecutters L.A., This Show Is Your Show with Matt Bennett, and ImprovMelt. He also helped start the venue’s training program, The Nerdist School; co-created and co-hosted the children’s podcast, The Mutant Season with Gil; and co-created, co-starred and show-ran The Nerdist Channel’s first scripted web series, NerdTerns, for two seasons.

Mo is currently the general manager of The Experiment Comedy Gallery in Brooklyn, NY.

 

582678_562044627396_965600831_nDEREK SMITH is currently an associate producer for Yahoo! TV on one of the most watched shows in the history of the internet, Primetime In No Time. He can also be seen weekly on Championship Wrestling From Hollywood as “Jody Sutton” every Saturdays on KDOC in Los Angeles. Derek has also worked as the fight coordinator on NerdTerns Season 2 for Nerdist industries, produced his own show, The Nerd Wrestling Federation, and co-produced and co-hosted the SST Bookclub podcast.

 

Ben TrandemBEN TRANDEM is currently the editor for two of Yahoo! TV’s flagship original shows Primetime In No Time and Nighttime In No Time. He has worked most recently as a special effects supervisor on The Nerdist web series NerdTerns, has written and directed award winning feature length films, shorts and nationally televised commercials, as well as produced live musical events, pro wrestling shows and trivia shows, such as Stonecutters L.A., in a variety of venues in the Los Angeles area.
